Email and SMS sequences with stop-on-reply rules

Build email and SMS sequences with waits and a sending window, and turn on rules that stop a lead’s sequence when they reply. You review the copy; nothing sends on its own.

The problem

Why teams look for this

Most leads need more than one touch, and the second and third touch are exactly the ones that get skipped when a team is busy.

Stopping a sequence by hand when someone replies is easy to forget, and a follow-up that lands after a reply makes a team look careless. Turn on the stop-on-reply option and it is handled for you.

Pixelwand’s sequences keep the follow-ups moving, can be set to stop when the lead answers, and put every send on the same timeline as the calls.

Fit

Who it is for — and who it is not for

A good fit if you

  • want follow-ups to keep going when reps are busy
  • run outbound lists that need more than one touch
  • follow up inbound leads with a short, reviewed sequence
  • send from connected mailboxes and, on Growth and above, Twilio for SMS

Not a fit if you

  • want WhatsApp as a step inside a sequence
  • need unlimited sequence steps or lead counts on a lower plan
  • expect SMS steps on the Lite plan
  • want fully automatic AI sequences with no review
How it works

The workflow, step by step

  1. STEP 1

    Lay out the steps

Create a sequence and add steps in order, with the wait before each one. Email on every plan, SMS on Growth and above.

  2. STEP 2

    Write the copy

Write each message with variables from the lead record, or on Premium have AI draft it for you to edit.

  3. STEP 3

    Set the rules

Set the sending window, business days only, the timezone and whether the sequence stops on a reply or a status change.

  4. STEP 4

    Enroll and activate

Enroll leads by hand, from a list, or let a trigger enroll them when a lead is created, changes status or gets a tag. Then activate it.

  5. STEP 5

    Watch and follow up

Read replies and opens on the timeline, check the funnel on Growth and above, and follow up with a call or a task.

Capabilities

What is included — and the limits

Included

  • A step-by-step sequence of email and SMS touches with a wait of your choosing before each step (email only on Lite).
  • Personalization variables from the lead record in the subject and body of each step.
  • A sending window and an option to send on business days only, in a timezone you pick.
  • Options to stop a lead’s sequence when they reply or when their status changes.
  • Triggers that enroll leads automatically: when a lead is created, when a status changes or when a tag is added.
  • Threaded emails, your signature, an optional read receipt and an unsubscribe line you write.
  • Several sender mailboxes to spread volume (a single sender on Lite, up to 4 on Growth, unlimited on Premium).
  • Sequence analytics with an email funnel and conversion charts on Growth and above.

Limits

  • Sequences use email and SMS. WhatsApp is not a sequence channel, and WhatsApp messages are sent from the lead record.
  • Lite sequences are email only with a single sender; email and SMS together start on Growth.
  • Per sequence: 3 steps and 50 leads on Lite, 10 and 200 on Growth, 20 and 750 on Premium.
  • SMS runs through a connected Twilio account, carrier rates apply and US SMS needs carrier registration.
  • AI-drafted copy is on Premium and above and is always a draft for you to review.
  • Deliverability depends on your domain, mailboxes and sending practices, not the CRM.

Use cases

How teams use it day to day

Inbound follow-up

Enroll every new lead in a short sequence: a first email, a second two days later and an SMS if there is still no reply.

Outbound cadence

Run a list through four touches over two weeks and let the calls fill the gaps for leads that stay silent.

Status and tag triggers

Trigger a sequence when a lead moves to a status or gets a tag, such as a webinar attendee or a trial that went quiet.

Steady sending

Spread a send across a few mailboxes and keep to business hours so volume stays steady and replies land on the timeline.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which channels can a sequence use?

Email and SMS. Lite sequences are email only; Growth and Premium can combine email and SMS in one sequence. WhatsApp is not a sequence step: WhatsApp messages are sent from the lead record.

Does a sequence stop when someone replies?

A sequence can stop for a lead when they reply, and separately when their status changes, but only if you turn those options on in the sequence settings. They are off by default. Reps can also exit a lead from the sequence by hand.

What are the limits per plan?

Lite allows 3 steps per sequence and 50 leads per sequence, Growth 10 steps and 200 leads, Premium 20 steps and 750 leads. See /pricing for current plan details.

Can AI write the steps?

On Premium and above, AI can draft sequence email and SMS copy for you. You review and edit it before you activate the sequence, and nothing is sent on its own.

What do I need to start sending?

Yes. Connect your mailboxes and the sequence sends from them; replies land on the lead’s timeline. SMS steps run through your Twilio account, and US SMS needs carrier registration.

Can I control when messages send?

Set a sending window and business-days-only in the sequence settings. Sends outside the window wait until the next one opens.
